Do not forget that making dreadlocks will decrease your natural hair length by about 30%!
Avoid using wax products if you have dreadlocks, because it only keeps your hair so tight together that it becomes almost impossible to form knots. (Besides this, wax is greasy, it accumulates into your hair, attracting dirt you will be able to remove only with very warm water and chemical products. In addition, you will feel as if your whole face and neck were rather sticky!).
When it comes to having dreadlocks, you should wash your hair every 8 days for the first month with the help of woman nylons placed over your head to scrub your scalp without untangling your dreadlocks.
Then, after the first month, wash your hair twice during 5th week, three times during 6th week and so on until you reach the point where you should wash your hair only every second day. Do not wash your dreadlocks on a daily basis! Remember that dreadlocks are like a sponge, absorbing a lot of water that will make your hair stink very badly.
Instead of using a normal shampoo that leaves harmful residues in your dreadlocks, choose a shampoo or soap bar that doesnt have conditioners |
